Hi, I have this brass (or bronze?) candlestick, height is ca. 25 cm. I believe that it is dates to the late 18th c, am I right? And is it possible to say where it was made? Maybe France or England? Thank you for your help in advance!

In 25 years of antiques I have never understood candlesticks, but I think you may be right.

What do you think, should I polish it? The patina is not so nice, it is uneven, has some dark spots and looks more like dirt?

Kovel explaining how to tell age of old sticks. I found this interesting.

Only half of it played, but one piece of BS stood out. If they sold candlesticks by weight, there was no point making them as light as possible as he suggests because lighter sticks would sell for less money.

Kovels are pure BS in my opinion sort of like the kardasians of the antiques world.

Thank you all again! I had seen the video but it does not help verymuch to narrow down the date of my candlestick. However the shape is similar to pieces from the late 18th c, I believe...
