15395140597948233471441051356338.jpg A number of years ago I picked up 2 etching very cheap that I though had a special quality about them. They are signed by an Alan Moore though the Alan is signed different in both. I cannot find anything about him but to me they had a William wyllie style to them. Has anyone come across him before. Thanks

    Hi, Laura, and welcome!

I'm sure someone else can help you better than I. I'm finding preliminary searches for this Alan Moore more than a bit confusing, probably because there seem to be two other, well-known Alan Moores out there!

Maybe this will be at least a start:

    Frigate Leaving Harbour
    sold in Scotland in 2013:

The Grace Harwar ....off Gourock, on the Clyde...
    sold in UK in 2014

    -and- ??? Medway at Sherness
sold in UK in 2011 as “after Alan Moore”

To me the "M" in Moore Looks the same as do all the other letters. The only difference I see is the "A". They could have been done at different periods of his life. I know my hand writing has changed over the years.

Hi there. Thanks so much, this is really helpful. Always tricky when there are well know folk with the same name. Yeah that looks like my two good to have more of a description especially the Clyde one could not find where this was at all.

    Many thanks

Thanks for this. I did think the Moore was the same and yes very good point about writing. Mine used to be legible and now it isn't.

    Many thanks
