Arabic Hallmarks

    Hi! I have a couple of rings that I purchased in the Middle East, but I have no idea what the stamps mean. I can make out 18 on a gold ring that I'm assuming means 18K, but the rest is beyond me. I have asked Arabic friends, but they are equally stumped! Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

    The lower mark in the first photo says 18, around it is probably the maker's mark. The mark just above it, a bit to the right, could be an Iranian lion head with scimitar mark (on its side).
    Iranian marks certainly have that shape cartouche, but it would be helpful if you said where in the Middle East.

    Iran would also explain why your Arab friends can't read it, the language is Parsi, written in a modified Arabic script.
    Egypt is in North Africa, and Egyptian marks are different, generally rectangular cartouches.

    Agree with AJ: could well be Iran; definitely not Egypt.
