I posted this 9 inch soup plate on Finds and "I Need Help" found an Ebay UK listed that said the maker was George Patterson, Sheriff Hill Pottery, Gateshead. 1880's according to the listing. Can anyone confirm?

Very interesting, Fig. There are several pieces currently on EBay US, only 1 in brown, and the majority with a Marshall name printed on the banner beneath the Bosphorus name. None of them appears to have an impressed mark.

The impressed mark does seem to point to Patterson. I wonder whether Davies had a hand in it at all.

Hard to say - and as the author points out - pure speculation on his part.
