Hi everyone! I have done the research on this type of print- based on original painting by war artist Fortunino Matania, sold by Blue Cross to raise funds for injured horses in Europe. It seems like the early prints are black and white. I am wondering if you can help me date this one by the frame perhaps? I can tell it's a little older but insure if it's 1920-30s vs mid century or younger. It measures 18.75"L x 12.6"W. Any info appreciated! Thank you.

The way the back looks, with the cardboard and small nails all around, reminds me of several things I've purchased in the past that were dated 1930s-1950s. However, one never knows whether the framing is contemporary with the print. If you'd care to take it apart there may be some clues to the print's age on the paper.

This is the sort of framing type that sometimes has another image framed beneath it. Once I bought a picture that seemed to be a photo of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. At some point I took it apart. It was actually just cut out of a magazine! But beneath it was a nice older print of an airplane. There isn't always another picture in the frame, but now I'm always curious about that.

One thing we can clear up it's not an original, the print is a mechanical dot process. If you get a magnifying glass and take a closer look, I can see it right away in picture posted it's made up of fine dots like a newspaper print. So mass produced, all the same a very touching subject and art print. If it were a genuine watercolour or oil the colours would be more vibrant and stronger.

Hi thanks, yes I know it's not original. As I mentioned in my post, it's an image taken from the original painting by Matania and was sold by the Blue Cross to benefit injured horses. I was just curious as to the age of the print.

It may not be from a magazine, but would be interesting to see!
