Christmas Tree Stand, Info Please

Happy New Year! Picked up this cast iron stand (17 pounds of it) at a new year's auction and I'd like to know how old it is and what company could have made it. I see a number of these on EBay but the descriptions contain no info. Thanks!

 

LOVE that stand.....you need one more set screw....found 3 on ebay.....one says 1928, one says 'pre-1946' and the third didn't say....like that all 3 are or if reconditioned are/could be again/ electrified!! Prices varied widely: Take your pick!!!

Made of cast iron and extremely heavy, this is one of NOMA's first tree stands, and is circa 1927. The center of each poinsettia has a socket for a miniature base C-6 lamp, and the flange of the base incorporates a handy electrical outlet to connect the tree lights. Later offerings of this stand featured parallel wired candelabra based sockets for C-7 type lamps.

What type of paint would I use to touch up this piece? An enamel or Acrylic with a semi gloss varnish?

 

I would leave it. This is a case where fiddling with the original paint will decrease the value. Just give it a gentle cleaning and call it "shabby chic".

 

How pretty! Looks like the cat was interested, too.

 

No touching up. They have charm just as they are.
