Crowned N mark on porcelain figurine

This porcelain figurine if Punchinello was a speculative eBay buy for a few pounds. It’s 16cm tall and quite nicely made.

I found a near identical one listed on eBay for a lot more. That seller listed it as early 20c.

I think it’s a bit more modern than that. It is marked with a crowned N in blue. I’ve not found this crowned N In any of my books or on the Internet.

Any thoughts ? I don’t think it’s an intentional attempt to fake Capodimonte.

 

It's used by many so called Capodimonte factories. That looks 1960s to me.

 

Think it's a Potschappel (Carl Thieme) mark from the 1960s.

 

Nice find.. Mine frist thought is an early 20th century ernst bohne & sons from rudolfstad Germany. but i can't find this crowned N mark with the 2 vertical lines in mine german boek.
Maybe its an italian mark

 

The stance seems to be a variation of a Meissen figure. (Not suggesting it's Meissen)

John, here is the figurine that i have with crown and N. Saw a lot of discussions about this on different forums on capodimonte vs Carl Thieme Potschappel regarding the mark. still not sure what mine is ...

 

The crowned N mark was never copyrighted. There are a ton of different versions.

 

Anak, the mark is different on yours. The two marks, while similar, have distinct differences. The "loose" painting style and colors on yours lend to the notion that it's Italian.

 

Yours is much nicer quality than mine.
