Hi, newbie here. I acquired a meat scale from my grandfathers old store. It is manufactured by Gus V Brecht Butcher Supply of St Louis, Mo. I have searched everywhere online, talked to antique store owners and cannot find any pictures or details on it. It is at least 80 to 100 years old based on when my grandfather had his store. It closed in early 1950's opened in 1910 or so. I am trying to determine if it valuable or rare. Any help or thoughts on who might be able to assist would be appreciated.
Can't upload picture of 1.3 MB. how small does it have to be?

If you always make your photos 480xwhatever # it gives you you should never have a problem.

I like it!!!! I suspect it has decent value in that area of collectors. I will see if I can find any comparables when I have a minute.

Looks to be late 1800's/early 1900's. Probably purchased new when the store opened. Nothing fancy or special about it compared to other butchers scales. I don't see the company name itself as bringing a premium either. Probably 100-200.

    Here's a similar style from a different company: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/turn-of-the-century-scale-from-the-texas-butcher

Found an interesting forum post while looking:

I would agree with that summary. I believe before the antique market crashed so hard they probably would have been worth twice that but not today. I do find them to be a very attractive set and the dial is extremely nice and clean. If they were mine I would never dream of parting with them!

I understand. I mostly want to know why I can't find any that match it. The one Kronos pointed out is very similar, but I can't see the writing on the dial, who made that one? The base is almost an exact match to mine, I wonder if some company took various weigth scale dials and just attached it to a base made that they made?

Hi and WELCOME, J Cet!!! For future postings with images, hope this simplifies things a bit for you!! We ALL went through a learning curve, so no biggie, but we do best when the images ARE FULL SIZE IMAGES!!! Good Luck!!!

I'm wondering if all the buttons could be made smaller and even less visible than now. :p

Thanks all. I guess until I can find an exact match I have the only one in existence, lol, Maybe I'll try to contact Richard Brecht from Kronos's post about the autos. Maybe he will have some kind of historical documentation.

Somewhere there is a museum or two with lots of such things.
    They will probably know.
