Has anyone heard of Ira M Schartz?

I found this painting at a thrift store today. I wasn't crazy about it, but the raised initials above the artist's name made me think it had to be by a known artist.
Googling Ira w Schwartz I found this bio



With someone whose works have been in si many museums and is in so many permanent collections, why can't I find a single piece for sale or that has sold?

Is this painting anything special or is it as bad as I first thought?

I'm not sure that the last name on yours looks exactly like Schwartz to me, had to see it.

It is Ira W Schwartz: look at the strange impasto monogram above the signature. Its the same as on these paintings by Schwartz from the 1970s:

There was 1 or 2 pieces in same delivery that looked like the ones in your link, but I didn't see any signatures so I left them - may have to go back and look at them closer (but they were smaller than those in link - maybe 24 x 36)

this is my grandfathers painting. Ira schwartz. I live in Los Angeles and my house burned down and I lost all of his paintings. I treasured those paintings so much. Do you still own this painting? It would mean the world to me if I could buy it back from you. Or if you would offer if for free and I could pay for shipping. Thank you! (I’ve also never used this platform before, so I’m hoping this message reaches the right person)

And, not to be too suspicious, but I'd certainly ask for some kind of proof before sending a painting off to someone for free or even at a reduced rate because they allege it's a family piece and they lost everything else in the fire. Apologies if it's legit, but there are too many scams goind around

Here’s a pic of me with my favorite painting by my grandfather. This one is called Mothers Day. That’s my grandma in the painting and my two great grandmothers.

I tried to upload more pics of his paintings and me but it kept saying “file size too large”. I will t try to upload more later.

 

I haven’t shared too much about the fire on social media yet because it has been too difficult to write about. But I did share this on an Instagram story

 

Does anyone know how to upload images and make them size small or medium rather than full size? I was able to do it accidentally when I uploaded the pics of my grandpas paintings. But I haven’t been able to repeat it, so that I can send more. Thanks

 

I did say apologies if I was incorrect. I get so many spam texts, emails and calls a day I've become skeptical. I have wondered since the fires how many people lost irreplaceable pieces of family history. You can photograph and scan things, but it's not the same.
