help dating W S Blackinton backstamp

Morning all,
This mark for W S Blackinton shown on the 925 site is the early mark, but how early.
The tray i have is engraved with the date 1947 but i was thinking the tray was older when it was engraved? maybe nos?
Any thoughts or input?

There are implications in the following quote from Rainwater - "Acquired by Ellmore in 1938. While owned by Ellmore, operations expanded to include plated silver hollorware. Production was curtailed during WWII and resumed with new lines in 1945."

So no earlier than 1938 (prior to '38 Rainwater says they specialized in gold jewelry), but given the date of the engraving, I'm more inclined to "after 1945."

BTW, the mark you show is the only one for this firm in Rainwater.

 

Sterlingflatwarefashions quotes the same date for beginning plated holloware production.

Thank you Susan, I'm just not finding anything with this mark, but as you said with the date of engraving it must be.
