Help identifying a dome top chest and nightstand

Hey all,

I purchased these two items from an estate sale in the northeast US and I’m looking for some help identifying them.

The chest is pretty damaged but still has the tray top (but not the key). The lithograph appears to be in decent condition but the hinges are in rough shape. The metal on the outside is very thin and feels cheap. I'm trying to figure out if its an original steamer trunk or a toy trunk made later.


The nightstand has a veneer on the top and sides, but the carvings on the bottom are very detailed. The door closes by pushing down on a ball shaped button. There are also nails on the back of the dresser that are gold that seem to be in two pieces, a flat head and a nail (sorry about the bad description).


Does anyone have an insight into these? I don’t think either is super valuable but I’m curious about if there are any identifying details that I have missed. Thank you all very much!

Fair point, I meant more like a replica, but I see your point. Is there anything I can use to identify it and if it’s a trunk from the general 1800-early 1900s?

Trunk has had the cloth stripped off and the wood finished. Otherwise typical for c. 1900. Stand is probably 20s-30s.
