I own this beautiful totem pole. It stands 39 1/2" tall. On one size is a mark i believe is the artists mark. Appreciate anyone who can help tell me more about this totem and possibly identify the artist.

    Thank you,

    Kevin

The 8 , a part number so that the matching wings can be fitted into the two side slots.
The wood, what I can see of the grain, is offshore wood, likely Albesia .
    The paint is poorly applied.
The designs represent NWC 1st Nations creatures and form lines , but are only similar and not true to form.
The carving , while recognizable lacks the balance and symmetry of an authentic NWC totem pole.

You have a reproduction of what an Indonesian Artist from Bali , thinks a model totem pole should look like .... missing it's wings.

Carved with in the past 30 years.....or so.
