    Hello all,
Would anyone be able to help identify the marks on this little teapot please? I have trawled the Internet but have not managed to find anything helpful. The mark appears to be a rooster/cockerel inside a shield and the writing looks to be possibly Indian to me but hopefully someone out there will know more.... I found it very tricky taking 20211118_110609.jpg 20211118_110636.jpg 20211118_110743.jpg 20211118_110903.jpg 20211118_111740.jpg photos of the marks as there was always a reflection of my tablet in the way!
The teapot is about five inches tall. It was very tarnished so I have given it a quick polish. I can't see any worn areas - it is uniformly silver coloured. Could it be silver - I have no way of telling.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

    Arabic script.:)
I wonder if it is Moroccan. Moroccan make a lot of silver and silvertone teapots, often with this shape handle.

So strange. Almost looks Islamic - Middle Eastern.

I don't think drinking tea is confined to a specific religion, but I get what you mean.;)
I still think Morocco is a strong contender though. All religious denominations in Morocco drink the national favourite, mint tea.:)

No marks on the bottom?? To ME, it doesn't quite look 'Sterling', but as I said, that's to ME!! Pretty, simple little tea pot though!!:happy:

If it is Moroccan silver, it should have a silvermark. Most Moroccan teapots are not silver though.

Thank you for your replies. I will try looking up Moroccan silver.
Yes, there are marks on the base - shown in the last photo.

Those aren't silvermarks, those are a maker's mark and some script which could be the maker's name and the name of the town where it was made.
Moroccan silvermarks are official hallmarks, just like European marks.
