Featured HELP WITH MARKS ON CARVED WOOD BEAR w/SALMON

    I found this at a local thrift store. The carving is well done & there are marks on the bottom of the paws - the one Ithnk I recognize says CPO - but nothing comes up when I google that?
    I looked up carved wood bear with salmon on eBay & the prices range from $29 - $129; so knowing who made this would be a big help.
    It measures 10" L x 7" H

    Japanese bear carving (kibori kuma) from Hokkaido - the 'CPO' in a diamond is found on items made a bit after WWII intended for sale at military exchanges, usually said to stand for 'Central Purchasing Office'...

    What Dragonflywink said, with the additional note that it is made by an Ainu person, the Indigenous people of Japan.
