I have a lovely set of Minton plates, 9" diameter, so I'm thinking luncheon plates? (Doesn't the word "luncheon" carry a delightful sense of English something? MM2.png redoooo.png "Cocktails with luncheon on the patio, darling?) I think I've narrowed the production year down to 1867 from the mark and the cipher. But I can't find the pattern anywhere. I'm wondering since the plates also are marked "S. Nordlinger & Sons, Los Angeles, Cal.," they might have been a pattern specifically commissioned by Nordlinger for sale in the US? The plates are marked "H3038", with a "z" or a "2" below it. Would the experts here have any ideas for me? Thanks!

That is the pattern. Most designs from this period never had a name, just a reference number.

OK, thank you. Good to know. Do you think I have the year correct?

I can't see the date cipher in the pictures, but if it says England under the Minton globe mark then the item is post 1890.

I thought the date ciper was the diamond at the upper right?

That looks like a decorators mark. I don't have my reference book to hand but I'm pretty sure Minton date ciphers were impressed clay marks, not printed or painted.

Edit: Just checked my references - Minton ciphers are definitely impressed as I thought, so the script mark is a decorators/workers mark. That Mintons mark dates from 1891 to about 1902.
