ID Mexico sterling & onyx cocktail picks

I can't make out what is written before Hecho (looks like 3 letters), and after Mexico (looks like 2 letters). Hoping to identify, if perhaps it's a known maker. I can't find any similar picks in my searches.
Can anyone confirm, black onyx? Thanks for your time.

 

Two of them read like M6. M stands for Mexico city, 6 is the maker. This letter and number system was introduced ca 1979.
And yes, black onyx. Inspired by pre-Columbian masks.

 

With all due respect, Any Jewerly, I believe the maker's registration mark is MG-100/MG-400 or MS-100/400. The 1st letter, M, like you said is for Mexico City; 2nd letter, G or S, is the initial of the maker's surname; followed by a dash/dot, and the maker's registry number that may be 100 or 400. These registration numbers have been used since 1980. According to Hougart:

"The first letter identifies a location. ... The 2nd letter is the first letter of an individual's last name. ... "

Hougart's has a few registration numbers lists, but says there are thousands of numbers and says couldn't list them all. This number isn't listed, no MG or MS listed. I don't believe the maker is important. Just knowing sterling, made in Mexico City, and after 1980 will probably be enough.

What would you say to HECHO MEXICO DF (for Distrito Federal, the district Mexico City is in) and then HM6? That is what it looks like to me, except the top bar of the F hasn't been stamped all the way. And what would the H stand for?
If the 6 is a G, then the M should be a W.
But I agree, the maker isn't important in items like this.

 

Possibly, but all sources I have and those online I've seen, has the Mexican registation consisting of 2 letters followed by a dash or dot and then a number.

Rather than 100 or 400 for the number, it looks more like 10 or 40. I think the DFs I've seen have a dot after the D and after the F? If it is DF, they really messed up on stamping a correct registration number.

Maybe we should forget about the post 1980 system, and the older eagle mark.
During the eagle mark era, ca 1948-80, marking could be just what anyone wanted it to be. As it says here:

So much information, and I need to re-read it all.
Wouldn't it matter, if these were by someone known? I ask because, I know some Mexico makers are known, and their work is worth more than others, and these picks are unlike any others that I can find. I know they wouldn't be any big money item, but again I think it could matter, if indeed they were made by someone known, am I wrong to think that way? Forgive my duhhhhmness!
Maybe I should clean them up, and see if I can get any better pictures of the markings.

Sorry to disappoint you, these are not by someone famous, there are many like them. The famous Mexican makers have very distinctive, recognizable styles, with more silver.
So I think 'vintage Mexican sterling silver cocktail picks with black onyx masks' will get you there.

I'm wondering if those numbers or letters are meant to be read upside down?, Well it really isn't upside down though, but if I turn the picks upside down, it looks like the 3 letters or numbers (before Hecho) look to be something like...9WK, GWK, 9WR, 9WH, etc, etc?
These 2 pics are taken from the backs of two different picks. I see the same 3rd letter on all 6 picks, that looks like a k, or h, or r, or something along those lines. It just seems to be broken up or something, like the "H" in Hecho next to it.??
Anyway, I thank you for your time, and will stick with Vintage Mexican sterling & black onyx masks.

 

I see these occasionally in auctions overhere, but usually it is the silver coffeespoons with masks. The stone is sometimes called onyx, sometimes obsidian. Since obsidian is volcanic glass, it is often slightly translucent.
If you google silver and onyx mask jewellery, you will certainly find the style.

Mexican marks are often stamped in the round or to be looked at from different angles, which can be confusing. Looking at your new set of pictures, the two marks next to mexico could be or. So, apart from hecho mexico, it looks like or.9wk. Orizaba? I don't know if they make silver in Orizaba, but why not.
