    Hello All!

i bought this creamer and sugar under the impression that it is a Meissen piece but after looking for the markings I have a fear it might be fake. Can anyone help?! Thanks! F4FEB9F7-B716-464D-901F-916BEF0AC183.jpeg 4F033A5B-39BC-4E67-8BF9-36BB347474B2.jpeg

Not Meissen but also not technically "fake" -- the swords clearly echo Meissen's classic mark but aren't quite pretending to be it.

This PM&M page shows your mark (left hand column, sixth row) as having been used by the New York importer Arnart in the second half of the 20th century:

You'd need to do more research to determine whether these particular pieces are from Japan or elsewhere.

You'll never see the words "Blue Onion" appear on the bottom of an actual piece of Meissen porcelain, produced by the Royal/State Porcelain works or, for that matter, by one of the Teicherts. The Meissen mark is two crossed swords in cobalt blue, underglaze. They vary slightly by time period, but they never have an actual looping handle as this one does.

The handles are another giveaway. Meissen pieces have different handles.

Thanks for the info guys! Needless to say, the auction house that listed it as Meissen and sold it as such seems to do this often as this is the second piece of the same purchase that ended up being different than described.

That certainly sounds like an auction house to avoid.

If you were buying these to use and you like them, perhaps you can forget what's written on the bottom?
