A porcelain set with bottom mark. I wonder if anyone could help me to identify the manufacture and age? 620026616_fl.jpg 620026709_fl.jpg

Epiag China. Replacements Ltd shows this pattern as Pastelle (there are several different color versions.) Unfortunately they do not show any date information, either for when first issued or when discontinued. I'd guess post WWII.

I was pretty sure Epiag was not a single company. Went looking for info and came upon this

    Per Kovel's
Q: I have a set of dishes which were given to me by my mother in 1948 as a wedding gift. Who made this set and how old is it?

A: This arm and stiletto mark was used by Springer & Co. of Elbogen, Bohemia (now Loket, Czech Republic), one of the potteries that was part of EPIAG. The pottery was founded in 1815 by Rudolf Eugen Haidinger and Eugen Haidinger and operated under various names and owners. It became Springer & Co. in 1885 and joined OEPIAG, an association of potteries, in 1918. In 1920 the name of the association was changed to EPIAG (First Bohemian Porcelain Industry). This mark was used from 1941 to 1945. The pottery was nationalized in 1945 and became part of Starorolsky Porcelain.

the history of the different companies that were bundled as EPIAG is still very unclear. here the only fact is after 1920 because it's marked with an additional Czechoslovakia. before that they were marked Austria certainly till 1918, eventually till 1920 when Czechoslovakia was born as a really independent state Triannon treaty etc.).
another problem is that Elbogen - which means elbow in German - was not only a village but also a district; same problem as with Carlsbad marked stuff.
there are also items post- 1939 till 1945 that were marked Deutschland.
