Old Majolica Pitcher in poor condition. 7" High - Should I put it in the trash or does it have some value? I have problems throwing things away

    Do you have a garden?
I often put broken pottery out in the yard.
Topple it over so it looks like it was left behind.
I stand broken plates upright behind small plants.

With that crazing I'd be very careful if using fresh flowers. Test it first since crazed items frequently develop a slow leak.
Don - learned the hard way (as usual):banghead::woot:

It's a shame about the damage, but were it mine, I would never consider throwing it away. ;)

    Hi,
When I have a piece like that I always find a glass bottle or even plastic one that will fit inside and use that to hold the water.

Thanks for all the comments and ideas. No water for vase, I ruined an antique brass tray with flowers in a leaking vase.
CC like your idea or maybe I'll sit it on a table on the deck and catch rain water if leaks out it won't hurt.

If all else fails, it would look nice holding a big bouquet of "silk" sunflowers.

Or put it in the kitchen, for wooden spoons. It'll brighten up the kitchen and that green looks great with wood.
    Too pretty to throw away.

People like old majolica. I have sold several pitchers in that kind of condition (although not for a high price). It’s very appealing!

Some of the flower vendors at our Farmer's Market will use old pitchers and vases for arrangements. I'd do that before chucking it.
