I recently acquired this goat made at the Schwarzburger Werkstätten für Porzellankunst concern. The artist is Helene Ruoff and I would estimate the age at around 1920. It's quite large for one of these animal figurines at about 22 cm in height. Has anyone seen another one of these? I'm not interested in selling but I wasn't able to find much about the artist at all, let alone this particular figurine. s-l500.jpg

This looks like one without color:

    This from the British Museum:
"The Schwarzburger Werkstatten were founded in 1908 by the ceramic artist Max Adolf Pfeiffer (1875-1957) and directed by him until 1913."

    Translated from the German here:

Founded in 1909 by Max Adolf Pfeiffer as an art department of the Unterweissbacher workshops for porcelain art. Pfeiffer left Unterweissbach in April 1913 and moved to Meissen in anticipation of greater opportunities.

In the mid-twenties, the "workshops" together with their models and shapes relocated to Volkstedt, which was temporarily united with Unterweissbach. Under the direction of Dr. Edmund Tröster, the program was expanded further. There are now figures by the sculptors Mauritius Pfeiffer, Dorothea Charol, Claire Volkhardt; still by Otto Thiem, Martha Schlameus, Paul Scheurich, Etha Richter, Wilhelm Neuhäuser and also models by local artists such as Gustav Oppel, Arthur Storch or Hugo Meisel on offer.

The workshop brand, the embossed lacing fox, is used from the start. The art series of the "Schwarzburger Werkstätten für Porzellankunst" will be continued with artists of the modern age such as Kati Zorn, Walter Kirchner, Peter Strang,

Thank you! That is indeed the same figurine. I must have looked for an hour or two and was unable to find another. It's a shame there's so little information about the artist though; I saw a few other works from her that I liked while I was Googling. She made a very nice guinea cock for example.
