Small Old Silver Sugar/Cream pair

Hello, I have cleaned out a relatives house and found many things I have ZERO clue about. These are a couple of items.

They are made by the same maker, B.Rogers Silver Co. (See pictures of bottom stamps)
They have the same number 1218. I don't know if the lid I have on the sugar bowl goes with the bowl or not.....

Are they silver?

How old are they?

Do I leave them as is or have them polished?



Dimensions are close but approximate:
Creamer/Pitcher:
Tip of lip to end of handle is 6"
Mouth is 3" x 2.5"
Base is 2.5"
Height is 4" (The sides of the mouth flare up)

Sugar bowl:
Handle to handle is 9"
Mouth is 3"
Base is 3"
Height is 3.5" (At the Mouth)
Height is 3.5" (At the Handles)

Sorry, I had more than 12 and pressed post too soon. I had to figure out how to get them all on and the correct size.....

 

The "quadruple" in the mark means heavy silverplate, not sterling.

 

Silver plate with tons of tarnish, so, not sterling silver....not sure how well they will polish up..... you can see from the mark they are from about 1883....

 

FB Rogers, not just B. Plated as already posted.

The firm was founded in 1883, but moved to Taunton (see that word in the mark?) in 1886) so they can't be older than that. However, given the length of the design number, we looking at much newer than then. With "quadruple" in the mix, closer to 1900 in my estimation.

Age is really irrelevant in this case, though.

 

You can try polishing them, but quadruple plate is notoriously thin, despite the implication of the name.

 

I wouldn't bother personally; quadruple plate doesn't sell for much these days. No one wants to polish it.
