Family story is that the box is the original box for this ring.

    50’s ? Pre 50’s?

my mother has this (also inherited from same person) and we are not sure if it was once a set.

    Guesses welcome : -)

The person we inherited them from was not the original purchaser. She inherited them from another family member.

If the ring is original to the box I would expect the ring to have a Tiffany's mark too.
    But I could be wrong.

Somebody will be along soon that might be able to help with the date of the box.

I’ll need to get a jewelers loop and take a closer look. It does have marking but I’m over 40

It does! I just can’t read them. I don’t own a loop or magnifying glass so I need to order one to read it.

Antique Tiffany boxes have a value of their own.

That’s good to know. I have no intention of selling but nice to know.

Thank you for your help with the date!

Most smart phones have a magnifyer built in somewhere.

Or you can download a magnifier app. Great magnification and it will take pictures. They are free.

Tanya, could you take a photo of the mark? Even if you can't read it, some of us may be able to recognize it.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

A magnifier would be a great investment. They don't cost much.

Beautiful ring, too! Your pictures are too small for me to even tell whether the ring and bracelet might be a match. I do own a magnifier but it doesn't help on this.

I’m curious now because the family story doesn’t seem to match the date (at least of the box).

Also a better picture of the ring. Do you think the period style of the ring matches the box?

I think we need a better photo of the mark. Looks maybe like T & S or F & S?? Can you get it any better Tanya or read what you see and share it in a post?

Can say that this ring is almost certainly 14K gold or better and appears to be nice quality, same for the bracelet.

I’m reading T&S. The letter is worn from being on the inside of the ring. But I do think it’s an S. I didn’t want to post that initially as I wasn’t 100% sure and wanted to see what others thought :)

Any jewelry people able to make a guess on general period? I’m so not a jewelry person :)

    Thank you!

The ring style is typically English from around 1890-1910, so late Victorian Edwardian. The style did come back in fashion in the 1970's and you find many examples from this period. I'm going to speculate the ring has been resized, hence why it looks as if much of the hallmark is missing. The last character looks typical of an English hallmark, if you can get a better image of it, it may be possible to date it even without the rest of the mark.

Edit: No need for another pic, quite confident it is Chester 1911 having studied closely. This means it has been resized, but it is a genuine antique. I'm not sure if Tiffany had any pieces hallmarked in Chester at that time period.
