Hello everyone - one place where my library is lacking is vaseline glass. I've got this neat compote but I haven't had any luck finding out anything about it. It is about 4 1/4" tall and 5 1/2" across the top. Base measurement is 3 1/4". Noticeable seams and three-part mold. Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Don, on my monitor, the color of your piece looks green, not vaseline-colored? Is it my monitor settings, or the photo?

Hi Pat - green but glows yellow in blacklight. Perhaps uranium glass is a better term? Don

Don, I think of vaseline glass as looking yellowish green in daylight but not sure if that's the standard definition.

The original name for the color of Vaseline glass was canary. People started calling it Vaseline glass because it resembled the original color of petroleum jelly.

Green glass is not Vaseline glass even though it may glow under a black light. Green glass glows because of the mixture of glass which may have uranium or not.

    Don -
Your compote looks to be depression era. My first thought was Imperial or US Glass, but those were just a gut reaction.

Thanks, cluttered! US Glass was actually my first thought. It is similar to their Floral and Diamond band. Searching their patterns, though, didn't turn up this variation. Will try Imperial.

If you do find it, please let me know! I have a bowl with a similarly made flower on it that I can find nothing about.
