Found this cool turtle. It glows under the black light. But I don't know the maker or if it is old. Found some on line but no dates or maker. Any ideas??? $_3 (1).JPG $_3.JPG $_3 (2).JPG

If I recall correctly.... Greg is going to come by and state; "If it's green......it's not Vaseline."

I think it was made in the fifties. Its cool but I'm trying to stick with depression era pieces.

I doubt 1950s because uranium was not available for private commercial use. Not sure when the restrictions were lifted but think 1960-70 period. The other possibility is pre WW2 maker.

I believe that it came over here from the Orient Express.

must have snagged the pics he used here from the internet. These exact same pictures are all over eBay, Terapeak, Worthpoint, etc.

Some people are calling them Tommy or Willie, depending on if it's a head-up or head-down version.

Some descriptions claim made in USA.

Can anyone remember the name of the USA company that makes reproductions of antique/old glass and pottery items? And fantasy items, too. It seems to me like the name starts with an 'R', but I can't get it to rattle out of my brain.

I once had a bookmark link to their site, but have lost it.

Yes I did. Is the same one my mother just bought at an antique store in Kansas City Kansas and I could not download the pictures so I had to use the ones from the internet. But she hasn't learned a black light and it glows but I don't know if it's a reproduction or if they need anything like that in the Depression era

Danyika04 - Not sure exactly what you mean about the black light. Is the one above from the internet?
Did any of the ones you found mention age or origin? IMHO you have a fairly new glass one piece turtle made from a mould that was intended to produce a fantasy turtle. I wouldn't date it pre-2000.

    I
I mean once you turn the black light on it glows florescent like the glass I have from the 20s and 30s. My mother bought it at an antique store. I just thought it was cool.

I hope this link to a Worthpoint search works. Scroll down the page, then click the link for page 2, also.

These green uranium glass turtles have been sold with the same pictures and descriptions since at least 2007.

Where they are being made and by whom, I haven't figured out yet. But some descriptions do say "Made in USA".

Antique stores shouldn't be selling them.

I agree it's kool and kinda cute.
But I didn't make my question very clear.

"Yes I did. Is the same one my mother just bought at an antique store in Kansas City Kansas and I could not download the pictures so I had to use the ones from the internet. But she hasn't learned a black light and it glows but I don't know if it's a reproduction or if they need anything like that in the Depression era."

I read above as - Mom sent some pics you couldn't download. She's not a black light pro, but the turtle glows.
    That's where you lost me.
    Who black lit her turtle?

    AND
, the ones on the Internet are selling under $10. I don't think they made repro's, I think they're original. Ca 2000.

    Thanks for that post, Laura.
For some personal strong bias against Worthpoint ( and don't remember why, but it's a long lasting one,) I couldn't check sale prices because I refuse to send them money. Do you know roughly what the average is?

Sorry I wasn't clear. The woman at the antique store sold it to my mother as vaseline glass. The owner of the antique store put a black light up to the turtle and it glowed as if it were depression vaseline glass. But I didn't think they sold turtles that looked like this back then.

as to buying in a antiques store: many antiques sellers often mix new pieces with their antiques...
