VINTAGE CHINESE (?) 4 PANEL HAND PAINTED SCREEN

I found this at a thrift store today, it's a hand painted, 4 panel screen that hangs on the wall (it has an unusual hook/brace on 1 side of back but missing 2nd one).
I like it because it's not the usual birds/trees etc.. like most.
It measures 35" H x 60" W
Thoughts on it?
Anyway to find out the artist's name to see if he's known?
Does it have any value? (I only paid $25 for it + a cool carved relief wood piece so I'm not going to lose either way!)
It's Chinese right? (Not sure about the characters but the red stamps are Chinese right?)

Might be japanese. Judging by the hardware appears 70s to me. Soneone else might know more about it. I could be wrong

 

rink28 - do you think it's a established artist or tourist/factory at? I'd think factory/tourist would make what people are used to instead of something so different?
