Hi All i picked up this gravy boat with attached under plate at an estate sale today for a song. It is in perfect condition. looks like it was made yesterday.
i am reading this pattern dates from 1928-1948 so i was wondering if they were reproduced or i just got lucky.

I don't think gravy boats get used much, thus the great condition.

Thanks Janet, i can only find a couple of these for sale. one on replacements asking 249.00 and one on thebay at 125.00. checking the sold items for this pattern and it seems it doesn't sell much at all.

I agree with Janet. Not only were the gravy boats hardly used, but this china likely was used only for special dinners on holidays & such.

    Hi,
You got lucky. It is a discontinued pattern. It stopped being produced in 1948, however it was remade until 1955. Yours is in excellent condition. My pattern was Eternal, it is still being made but I can tell the older pieces from the newer. Since the newer is slightly whiter than the original cream color. I love plain china but always mix it with fancy glassware and extremely heavy fancy silverware. I say when the food is on the china you can not seen the pattern anyway. I love white linens with fancy silver napkin holders. I guess I am the old fashioned purist. I think I have three or four paper napkins and one paper plate in the house for 8 yrs now.

I call gravy boats like that, "Tinkerbelle's bathtubs,"

In my tag sale travels, I have noticed that a number of people had a pair of gravy boats. I assumed it was a case of duplicate wedding gifts -- until I saw a pair of gravy pitchers on my sister-in-law's crowded Thanksgiving table.

Duh... Sometimes it takes a while for the penny to drop!
