What would you use to clean this glass pepper shaker

Picked it up for free, but it's cute. Someone used it for white pepper and it's still caught in the shoulders and base. I've soaked it for days with baking soda and Efferdent to no avail. It's only 2" tall.

Dishwasher tablet in really hot water. Or even stick it in the dishwasher. Once won't hurt it.

    Crushed eggshells, water, shake.

Thanks to both. I'll try the dishwasher with this guy and I'll remember the eggshells for more delicate pieces

The other thing that works are those little copper balls or shot in water.

Hmm. I can see me running down to the Goose Hummock shop and buying bb shot.

    Hi Bev,
Just returned from Dick's sporting shop with a bottle of copper clad bb shot. I use it for filling the weights in clock weights.:D:D:D:D:D:D:D. Instead of shot I use uncooked rice for cleaning out small bottles and shakers. Just remember to dump it out and NOT put it down the drain. (been there, done that):eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:. The dishwasher is a good spot to use first. I use the regular rice since it has the pointy ends from milling.

pepper contains oil, which may build up in shakers; so maybe try hot tap water with dishwashing liquid and let soak for a day or so; rinse repeat as necessary. A small bottle brush(maybe a toothbrush) or cotton swab may help. Personally, I wouldn't try a dishwasher for more delicate glass; plus the chances are that great that the water jets will not get into the small opening of a shaker to remove those internal stains.

Actually, thinking about the oil thing, it might be worth filling it with vinegar for a week or so. Might emulsify better than washing up liquid. Keep shaking the thing.

Or even 409. I use it for all kinds of greasy, oily, things. Then wash with dish soap.

I swear by Krud Kutter but if you use dish soap use Dawn or another dish soap that cuts grease. I agree that the dishwasher might not get in that little opening.

    Hi,
For tiny things I have an old curved Maybellene marscara brush that has been cleaned as well as an old Christmas tree dental brush.
