Just sharing where my latest mania is leading me: David Andersen’s line particularly the pieces Willy Winnaess made. A bunch of this period had the small double leaf design, the smaller single leaf design, and the large single leaf. Bracelets, necklaces, brooches, and earrings all appear with this style. I have yet to stumble on a single ring. I don’t believe they made rings in this design. However that single red clip earring above may just end up on a ring with my local jewelers help. It was tossed in with the purchase of the red pair of earrings, so why not? What I’ve found accredits Mr. Winnaess’ contribution to the David Andersen line around the 1950’s. The leaf designs I’m in love with all bear both the David Andersen brand and Willy’s hallmark. There is such an understated beauty in the lightly gilded sterling and enamel that I never get tired of seeing. I’ve begun actively hunting for their pieces and am shocked at how polar opposites I am finding them in price ranges. The cheapest I’ve scored was $10 for a pair of earrings and $10 for a brooch. However I’ve watched ebay sellers gather around $40-60 for the same items. The necklaces and bracelets tend to go higher. I hope eventually I gather a parure without breaking the bank. The colors they made these in are dark blue, light blue, white, an icy grey/white, black, red, yellow, purple and my favorite the apple green. I hope you’ve enjoyed peeking at the pieces I’ve gathered so far from this style. Thank you for letting me share!
Fantastic collection! I've sold a few like this, I think I had white one time and one time blue. Recall that they were so well made. I think will be a good investment. This kind of quality typically appreciates in value. Very nice. Thanks for sharing!
Gorgeous.....love most things Scandinavian, simplicity and pure lines. Fetching increasingly big prices over here in Europe.....excellent pieces. Enjoyed the lovely photos.
I recently became a big fan of David Andersen. Bought my first piece just recently. Lovely pieces you have.
@Marko People are crazy in California. The light blue brooch and earrings had been $10 for the brooch and $10 for the earrings. The highest price I paid was for the black necklace, seller wanted $200 but took my offer of $120. I don’t see the black items very often and pounced. Most of the pieces I see on the lower end are unfortunately damaged. But I’m in no hurry. I’ll wait for a lucky moment with a lucky price.
Yes. I went to one a few weeks ago. The 800 silver lipstick case I found? They had it’s little twin with a pretty blue turquoise looking stone. Wanted $200 for it. But then I find items I cannot believe... gold necklace 14kt for quarters, vintage sterling thick bracelets for $4, etc. This is part of the joy of the hunt.
I had pieces when much younger as did my Mother. Still have them and wear the blue earrings occasionally. Love the colors and vibrancy of the pieces. Patd
I have none of the jewelry, but I am a huge fan of enameled Scandinavian silver. I have lots & lots of sets of sterling spoons, bowls, plates, candle holders, salt & pepper sets, coasters - pretty much any type of "table" piece you can imagine. I love the colors and how prettily the pieces sparkle in sunlight and candlelight. p.s. I know that @DragonflyWink collects it, too!
I have been reading through the above thread and I was hoping that someone would be able to help me? I have found the attached bracelet which I found whilst sorting out and I am hoping to sell it on. If anyone could give me any advice on how to do this it would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Jenny
