This must be a bad day for Christmas lights. I went out to wrap a 100 bulb string of tiny lights around the garland that is hung off my front porch railing. Now, being the "check first" person that I am, I plugged the lights into the extension cord, then plugged the cord into the outside receptacle. Nada. Unplugged and took the lights (still attached to the ext. cord) inside to the kitchen - they all light up. Back out to the porch. The GFI button has popped out and won't reseat. Ok. Down to the basement with a flashlight. Sure enough that circuit breaker has popped. Push left and back to the right - it stays engaged. Back up to the porch. GFI still won't reseat. Grrrrrrrrrr. At this time of the day I am not calling an electrician.

I hope you got your lights sorted out, Greg.

    Hi,
I am such a "saver" I mean miser, these sets of lights have been for 15 years now. I have boxes of lights that I got real cheap 10 years ago. Do I break down and use them, no I keep thinking that these are good yet. I tend to cause my own problems.
laughing at myself. On my tree there are 30 strands of 100 lights. They are so old they are a shade of gold instead of white like they started.

    Hi Bakersgma,
It is only an 8 ft tree but every branch has at least 25 lights on it. My neighbors used to say that when I turned in on I had to call the airport so they could detour flights coming in.:eek::eek: I always had a real tree but one year I bought the real tree and brought it home and when setting it up every needle fell off. I was soooooo irate that I went and bought this 8ft beauty and did it to death.

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

I have 75 old style large incandescent on the out side of the house.
Nothing fancy , & it's for the wife.
I have thrown out 200 mini bulbs....that I thought would save electricity .....bought a few years back......because....the lights were so dim you couldn't see them and every time one bulb went out .....they all went out....and trying to change them was like playing "Operation" .... Blind Drunk !!!

I loved that game of Operation when I was a kid. A number of years ago, my niece wanted the game so when we bought it and got it home and started to play it. I found out that the buzzer noise had changed to a sound that is intolerable. Game went back in the box for posterity.
