• hello!

I found this wood carving at a thrift store and asked the owner for details on it but he had none. I see there is script on the back, but I haven’t been able to successfully identify it. I think it’s a beautiful piece of art and would love to display it, but I want to be sensitive if there are any cultural connections that I’m not aware of. So if anyone has any input on the history of this piece, I would love to know!

 

I have no idea if this is correct but Google translate came up with a name in Armenian

 

A google image search comes up with a few similar carvings, but when I click on "visit" I receive security warnings.

thank you for finding these! when i put that into google translate i get results that say “kiss” and then different paintings of “the kiss” come up. So far it seems like this is by the armenian artist Eduard Arakelyan. It doesn’t seem like there is a cultural connection? I would like to contact him and ask.
