Featured Is Walter Moorcroft vase real?

Hello,
I identified this vase as Walter Moorcroft full signature mark (it was an internet sourse).
However, the experts on your forum can probably find the signs of fake or later reproduction. I couldn't find exact same vase (also using the internet sourses), but I found Walter Moorcroft vase with the same flowers (Bermuda Lily). The vase is app. 6"x6". I will appreciate your expertise. Thank you!

Not a Moorcoft expert but the blue muck on the inside and carelessly applied around the lip makes me very dubious. Has that been applied later? Does it wash off with alcohol?

 

I tried alcohol (just in case). The blue paint is covered with glaze. I've see a lot of Moorcroft pieces (again, on the internet), but never this one. Is there any sourse I can get the information about this pattern?

 

That's how they always look - this is an authentic, but uncommon piece.

 

I have a Moorcroft auction catalogue somewhere, I'll see if I can find the pattern.

 

Pattern wasn't sold in my catalogue, however, do I see the words "potter to the queen" stamped? That puts it pre-1949 ..also, here's a little Moorcroft tidbit ...
Walter Moorcroft's full script signature mark (like yours) was only used on important pieces, one off pieces for exhibition or limited editions.

I actually wanted to say, that if this vase wasn't a mass production, if "mass production" is applied for Moorcroft, somebody brought it to Canada. And he or she knew what he is doing, but failed to pass this knowledge to the descendants.

Bit late, but I concur: the real thing.

 

The problem is some descendants just do not appreciate or care about what was owned by their relatives.

I was visiting a friend yesterday whose home is filled with family treasures & items of value he has picked up over the years mostly from thrift shops or yard sales. His sister is named as his executor in his will but he is deathly afraid it will all be thrown into the dumpster because she, because of a somewhat traumatic childhood, does not care about the family treasures. Even though his will is very explicit regarding how the stuff should be disposed of, such as consigning certain stuff to auction houses, he realizes there is no way he can be certain she will actually do what he has asked. He admitted that he really needed to consider naming a different executor, but he he did not know who it could be.

Get his ass to an attorney. I have seen too many times the relatives have gotten rid of everything before the will is read or probated.

I am not complaining though. Now it's time to find out the value. But I still enjoy having the piece. Thank you very much.

 

I think the next time the subject comes up I may suggest he talk to his sister about the will. She may not even want the responsibility of being the executor. In which case he will have to change the will for that reason.
