This wood sculpture is part of an estate I am helping with. Any idea of origin? I don't know if this is tribal or just modern art. It is about 24-30" tall and carved from a single log section. There are no markings and this is the only pic I have at this time.

It is not any tribal style that I am familiar with. I suspect it is just someone's art piece.

Thanks. The estate does not have much tribal material so I suspect you are right. Just wanted to run it by here in case I was missing something.

This is pretty cool. I have this same character, same size, only it is Carved from a very heavy black stone. Ive been curious as well, as to who he is! 0426192216~2.jpg

I suppose I was thinking they might have been different interpretations of the same figure.
This was my first post to the Antiques board. Thought I'd jump in and get my feet wet.
    Thanks Bunches for the info!

Well...no one really likes meeting me on their 1st post....but you'll get over it !!;)

You could start a new thread for your sculpture...with a few more pics...& that might get more eyes on it....& maybe a different ID ???
    Worth a try !!:):)
