Today we visited the original State Theatre in Columbia, PA, which has since been converted to an antique and collectibles shop. Over the stairs hung a slew of vintage movie posters. The yellow one is for a movie called The Shadow of the Hawk, from 1976. I watched it as a boy with my father and it scared the crap out of me!! They were selling the poster for $175. While in the store, I saw one on eBay for..... $15 with free shipping. It's now on the way in the mail :) 20240901_194940.jpg

So I have been watching, and drooling over, this TRON Legacy, 5 foot by 8 foot, vinyl banner, for over 9 mos on eBay. I need it like I need a 2nd rectum, but I am a lifelong TRON fan, and a new movie is due out next year. I even own an original TRON arcade game from 1982. I remember seeing the banner in a theater in 2010 and even wanted it then.

The banner had been at $150, I offered 100 and was denied. The auction vanished and returned again at 125. I was dying but did not buy it. The guy pushed out a special offer discount, last night, that dropped it down to the magic 100 number. I saw it this AM and flipped out and bought it.

I do not yet have room to hang it anyplace, but it was one of those things that w 20240902_165957.jpg as making me lose sleep. This is what it looks like:

There is a place in VA where Tom Atkins will be in October. He was in The Fog, and I'm considering going to add his autograph to my original poster that John Carpenter has already signed.

    Tom is 88!!

I learned today of a 1976 issue of a Star Wars poster that was out before it went big. They say in the video that 1000 were made, and many ended up in the trash:

I made the mistake last night of querying "movie theater displays" on eBay. Thank God I escaped without buying anything! My new years resolution is to not buy any crazy items for myself unless they are for my 1957 truck, we'll see how long that lasts.

I also learned that Bruce Boxleitner will be in the area in a few months, may need to have him sign one of my many TRON items before the new movie comes out this year.

I have three listed on Ebay right now. 1978 The Brinks Job with Peter Falk and Peter Boyle. They were my ex-husband's.

Through the years I've picked up movie posters of films my father Sterling Hayden was in. He was in over 60, to include Asphalt Jungle, The Last Command, Dr. Strangelove, The Godfather, etc. Here's one from 'The Killing'.

I was bad. Ordered 2 Gladiator II IMAX banners for a price I couldn't resist.

Now if only I had wall space for them LOL

Wow. Look at those names. Another era for sure. Directed by Stanley Kubrick no less. I still like the old films better.

I like movie posters but as they take so much room to display I only have one at the moment. From the 2003 Seabiscuit movie. This one is signed by Tobey Maguire, Jeff Bridges, William H. Macy and Chris Cooper.

The lobby card . . a great mini poster that were distributed to theaters, 11"x14" in sets of eight. They're affordable and easier to display then 1/2 sheets or full sheets. Here's a set from the 1954 2nd release of the Noir classic 'Asphalt Jungle'. MGM actually changed the images of the LC's to feature her more prominently - she had become a major star by 1954. These are smaller than posters or lobby cards. I have 20 or 30 Silent Film star cards. I had them listed on Ebay years ago but they didn't sell so they're tucked away somewhere in a cabinet. Keenan F.jpeg Bennett E.jpeg Clark M.jpeg Farnum W.jpeg Dana V.jpeg

Then we go down even farther in size to the cigarette card - about 1"x3". Here's one from one of my fathers westerns circa 1955. [IMG]
