Just found this little cutie, what seemed odd about was it's weight-heavy ! The thick heavy construction reminds me of a antique mortar or crucible. It's a Bronze cup or beaker,4 inches tall,15.7 ounce weight (just under a pound).I'll let the pictures tell the tale (might be 19th century-or not !).

Try googling "vintage brass lassi cup". Lassi is a fermented yogurt drink, popular in India, Pakistan and other countries in the region.

The shape/silhouette of the lassi cups is inspiring ! It led me on a visual search that brought up these three examples: No.1-Persian Water Cup w/ an inscription that roughly says-'He who thirsts freely drink' (used in the public fountains, etc) No.2-Lassi Cup, and No.3-Described as-'Rare 19th Cent Antique Bronze Cup-African,Arab,Islamic Sand cast' (Ebay seller's caption).
    Thanks very much !

Yes, a fine visual match, but as is normal in most auctions- the description is scattershot & crammed w/ keywords. This is normal when you're a marketer as opposed to a scholar, but it's a good start .
Thanks again for the help.Love to get it translated, even though it prob says something re: God, blessing or water-but ya never know !
    PS-Weighs a ton.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Funny coincidence... I was just playing games this morning, and one was an online quiz. I was not familiar with lassi, but it was one of the answers to a multiple choice question! (That I got wrong... less than a half hour ago.)

There's also a form called Bhang lassi . Bhang is a liquid derivative of cannabis- interesting.
I wonder if those cups are used exclusively for lassi or a variety of other liquids ?

Awesome-I'm in Portland so there's no shortage of Health Food stores around-somebody's gotta have lassi. Maybe I'll stick my head out the door and yell-'Lassie come home !'.
PS-Man, that's one Dad Joke that's gone sour (milk) !
