    hi folks

a good days charity shopping today (loads of stuff). found this in a box of costume

was heavily tarnished over the mark.but could see something was there

was hoping for a decent hallmark, but just has a 925 which doesn't fill me with much quality confidence

does test as silver though, thinking there might be a bit of gold on there as well

not 100% sure what the stone is, i thought maybe rock crystal, but also has a moonstone look to it as well

not sure on the age, but get the feeling it might be 1st half of 20th, could be very wrong

    any info would be super

don't know if this is hocum or not ;)

What is the rarest color of moonstone?

Moonstones can occur colorless, blue-white, white, and pale shades of apricot and peach. The rarest and most expensive moonstones will be colorless with a floating blue color or schiller that seems to hover above the stone.

seems to describe mine quite well the last part

I’m not sure either. Some I’ve seen seem really clear though.

I doubt that's "the good one"; it's a factory-made ring. Here's the GIA page on Moonstones. They're the evaluation company of record in the USA.

I reckon it’s sixties or seventies. That style was big then, and hands were smaller. Pretty little thing.

It reminds me of vintage Black Hills Gold style-nice find Charlie.

I would lean towards last 10-15 years for age. Very typical style of current Indonesian or Thailand pieces as is the mark. I would agree with moonstone.

Very sweet.:) It is indeed moonstone, and the gold is real gold. It was handmade on Bali in a traditional Javanese-Balinese style, probably in the late 20th century.
This style with tiny granules and swirls was already made on Java in the 8th century.

i blinking love it, and its taken root on my pinkie

Yes it is, and so many different goldsmithing techniques in one ring are difficult to replicate by a machine.
Be careful with it, the gold appliqués are very thin and dent easily.

Lovely stone! It never ceases to amaze me what ends up in with the costume jewellery! Good find :)
