Thanks. It's good to be among friends again. And to have something new to share.

It seems Richard Cockle Lucas really was quite a character. He was a photographer as well as a sculptor. This would have made him a convenient one-stop shop for cameo portraits since he could do the photo himself & work from there. The National Portrait Gallery has an amusing collection of his self produced cartes-de-visites:

Any idea as to age or origin? Marked 925 on the clasp.

Given the clasp on the safety chain, it's got some age on it. Italy?

It's consistent with other cameo & silver bracelets I have seen that were Italian, except that it is 925 silver, not the 800 silver that was usual. Don't know when Italy joined the sterling standard, but have to think the piece is post-WWII, maybe 1950s. I just think of her as corsage lady, who became ubiquitous starting in the 30s.

What a wonderful cameo, Bronwen. You really got a treasure with an unusual signature.

Thank you. Welcome back to you too. I know the currents of your life pull you away from playing with us here from time to time. Your return is always valued. Now, if we could find @mirana

I keep meaning to drop a note to the British Museum on the notion that they probably have an interest in info on British artists & the dad, Richard Cockle Lucas, seems to have had a somewhat interesting history with them. In the past would have contacted Judy Rudoe, but she appears to have retired & I do not know who there, if anyone, has a special interest in cameos now.

Hope this link works for anyone who's interested. I'm registered with JSTOR, although not as a paying client & was able to read this in full. Not sure whether or not this is necessary for full access. It is an account of Anne Hull Grundy, her collecting & her gifts, especially of Victorian jewellery, to a great many museums:

I'm going to say resin costume jewelry, but do wait for @Bronwen!
(A google image search shows many similar.)

I'm already happy that it isn't made of plastic :D

I had indeed seen the similar brooches, but still went for it as it wasn't super expensive (and bought it toghether with 5 other items), and because this one seemed to be more detailed than the others I saw.
And I like the fact that she doesn't have a button nose like this one:

I did intend to mean a synthetic resin or plastic, but I'm certainly no expert.

Same here. I'm no cameo person, but I can usually spot the obvious ones.

At least with some age to it? Or recently made? (or impossible to tell?)
