Hello. I'm trying to get some vague idea of the potential worth of some of my mom's antiques, mostly furniture. I just read the post about how to get the best response so unfortunately I didn't get most of the info it was recommending, measurements, etc. . . I can get some of those but it won't be tonight I just grabbed some quick photos while I was at her house. I would have to go back another day to get measurements etc. . .

My mom is 83, most of her antiques she got from her mom and a lot from her aunt when she died so it's old, most certainly from the USA, beyond that I don't know much more.

I'm hoping some experts out there can give a rough idea as to whether it's worth anything or not. I think the rules said 8 photos per post so I have like 18-19 photos all together. I can post 8 here just to see what people think.

Hi @Brian Howell, and WELCOME to ANTIQUERS!! Being a new member, you might want to copy and paste the information below!! And yes, measurements are very important as well!! Your images are clear, but we like them to be posted at FULL SIZE....makes it easier on all eyes when trying to help!

For Future reference, when posting images:

Each image MUST be UNDER 1 MB....
There are instructions on site here on how to reduce the size of your image, if that is the problem......you are allowed up to 8 or 10 images per post!!!

Here are some links to the instructions:
Try emailing them to yourself as "medium" size, they should then be under 1 MB!

    If on the computer:

    If on an iPhone:

And if on an Android phone:

As an added note, when you have your photos LISTED, BUT BEFORE you hit POST, please click on the wording that says to "INSERT EVERY IMAGE AS FULL IMAGE" !! That way, we're not clicking on little thumbnails, but get to see all of the images full sized!! Thanks! Remember, it takes a bit for MOST new members to get the hang of it, but it's really quite simple once you get used to it!!!"

I grew up with a very similar "Nanny's Bench" in my bedroom........my Mom was an AVID antique collector, it was sold MANY years ago and I don't remember the price paid, but I'm pretty sure they have increased in value!! Your first images all show items which look in great condition!!! Be patient for others to chime in!! BTW, we don't often do values for many various reasons, but we DO HELP you in your search!! Best of luck!

On the others try image searching your photos, you'll start getting results. I'm using a Mac and this is a right click on the mouse.

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

you have a wealth of nice items..... identifying them in an effort to place fair market value , will take time , and how u are going to sell them off , will take more time and.. effort on your part.

    Where are the items located...
do u have auction houses in the area....
are u on a selling platform....
r u aware of how to sell locally....
is any other family involved in the dispersal of said items....

u will not get retail..... or some of the more questionable asking prices.... but finding similar sold items will give u a baseline...

All have value but don't see anything terribly valuable. All seem to be well kept, which is great. Are you hoping to sell or looking for an insurance value?

Okay. Thank you. I'll see about correcting the images when I return home from work later today. I'll have to go back to my mom's place to get some measurements on each piece.

If I can find out where to get an estimate that would be helpful too.

We are looking to sell them. It would be nice to get fair market value for them but these days, I'm not sure how many people are interested in this kind of thing. If I can get anything it will probably be below market value.

I see a few interesting smalls in photo ...#549... 4 majolica pieces, standard glaze pitcher maybe Weller, Mccoy or Roseville... If you want to sell everything your self there is a good chance you might overlook something small that has more value than the furniture. I suggest you hire someone by the hour to do a verbal "appraisal" that will walk around and give you a general idea of what you have. They will ask what you intention are? ie to sell quickly or insure etc. Do not sell anything to any persons giving you the estimate of value, perhaps from the local antique mall....And with posting photos here there are a lot of experts here that can point you in the right directions:shame:

Values tend to be regional with large city prices being higher than rural areas. The above suggestion to have someone local come through is a good one. If you can get an idea of local retail values, selling yourself through facebook marketplace or craigslist would be an option. Expect to sell at a discount off of retail. Sometimes as little as 1/3 but, given the nice condition, I wouldn't think you would need to go so low. You can always start a little high and come down if you need to. It may depend on how quickly you need to sell. If you have some time, you will net more than if you need to move it fast.

Thanks for the information. This is what I'm looking for. I will keep this in mind.

I'm going to work on reposting the photos so they are easier to see. Hopefully I can maintain the quality since they need to be under 1MB.

I see. I'm thinking we probably won't get a whole lot for them. It would be nice to get some of those Antiques Roadshow prices, $2,000, $10,000, $20,000 Hahahaha

I don't see a way to edit my original post so I will try to insert the pictures again in a new post.
