Featured Rosenthal bowl

I picked this up in Ripon the other day. I thought the border was supposed to be like it was still first, like some kick of stone effect. Then I realised that it is badly tarnished silver. I have polished it and it has come up beautifully. Not sure if it really is silver but it certainly looks like it. I don't want to test it as it is too thin and the acid might burn straight through. There is some kind of mark that looks like 1000/1006

 

Polished up great! I suppose that number refers to the silver, a very thin overlay, but wait for others.

If you search "Rosenthal Silver overlay" you will see many different pieces. They did some beautiful designs.

 

1000/1000. "Pure" silver. I have an orange bowl with a silver design with same silver mark.

 

That's great. Thank you. That is pure. Even silver bullion is only .999

 

but some coins are even better than 999
