Featured Help Dating Bizarre Antique Mirror

    Any clues on the date or origin of this mirror? The mirror is about 40 inches tall and 20lbs. Beveled mirror, wood is oak with gold highlights.

    The heads are what they call the Green Man. So Id guess its oak , English 1870-s give or take. Bet its heavy too.

    Those green man or north wind plaques look little strange to me. Think someone added them later or are they original? I love a little figural face on things but the square blocks they are on seem to interfere with the flow of the piece a bit.

    except that the top and bottom could easily be carvings of wing gusts !!!;).....

    Very interesting thought. Either way the square blocks look strange to me. That would be neat if that’s what is going on though. Once you look at it that way, it may as well be.

    Beautiful mirror, except:
    To me too. They also look made from a different type of wood. They are nicely carved though, very expressive.
