Yes, I do see differences, but it may indicate factory type production.
@journeymagazine did you find out anything?

I have the same painting I bought today but it’s more brown tone and signature on left side instead. I’ll try to post a photo does anyone have any info?

I found a similar painting today at a thrift store. It is more brown in tone and signature on other side. I’ll try to post a photo!

Did you find any info on it or value before you sold?

Looks like a (copied) lovely Sophia Loren painting.

One could also say "Feel the cloth, Sir. Why not have the best, if the lady's paying." It is a miss-quote, but there is no comparison. The trousers look full of starch, while the girl's dress is made of soft thin cotton.

I came across this thread by doing a reverse image search.

This oil on canvas painting has been in my family for over 90 years. It was my Dad's and he had it on the wall in his office when he had his business. He passed away several years ago, so I can't ask him about it.

I have had it with me for over 50 years now. As you can see in my photos, it has lived a rough life...

Just wanted to get some history on it... not much that I can find. At least I learned who the original artist was. But not sure the origin of the paint and when it was first done.

As I mentioned, mine was done on a canvas and using oil paints. I had to remove the frame about 10 years ago and never got around to getting a new frame for it. I will do so this year.

Even if it is not worth anything, it is something from my Dad... so it will go up on a wall as soon as I get it framed.

These are decorative genre painting of the Italian waif school. That means they were produced for commercial reasons and not as fine art. Given the "Milano 1962" on the back of one example, they may have been souvenirs (although 1962 is a bit early as mass tourism didn't begin until later in the decade.) They do have their charm but their value is sentimental. They may be signed L. Basile to associate them with the listed French painter but it may be a name adopted by the artist or artists. The latter is likely as the signatures vary as does the quality of the paintings' execution. How nice yours gave your father so much pleasure. He wasn't stationed in Europe after the war was he? Returning GIs often brought back art purchased at base PXs.

That might explain it... he was in the Marines. Wish I had asked him about the painting while growing up... We spoke about many things but I never asked him about it.
