Hoping not to be too obnoxious here, feeling inspired, I thought I'd share pics of weavings I've collected over the last few years.

Some I've maybe shared before... there's a couple I really like... some are vintage, some more recent...

@komokwa @Potteryplease -Can small holes and edge ravels be repaired for a sane amount of money ?

You know, I haven't pursued repairs yet. I still have that 19th c chiefs blanket I found a year ago. A local guy told me that first it would need to be completely cleaned, because the repairer wouldn't want to match new yarns to a dirty weaving.... bottom line, I don't think it's a cheap process.

 

Just about all of what I buy are mislabeled as Mexican or aren't labeled at all. None were expensive.

 

depends the rug and the damage....... mine could be reasonable , but Pottery's chief blanket would demand a higher level of repair because it's a higher level of rug....

 

all nice weavings ....... the Chief blanket....... something else altogether !!!!!!!!!!!

 

The repairer wouldn't want to touch it dirty, and no one would feel safe cleaning it.

 

There's a fellow near me who does Persian an' other eastern rug cleaning an' minor repair...he cleaned a runner for me 6-8 years ago, an' tied up a ratty end very nicely. Not inexpensive, but it was a mess an' now it shines.
My lady Hilde has it in her home...I'll try to get a couple pics of it...plus one of his cards when I'm in Sequim next.

 

Persian and Navajo..... made differently !
I have a repair on my Persian..... that would not work on a Navajo loomed rug....
but , good effort

 

Are the diagonal lines in the weave what is called the 'lazy stitch' ?
