Finally an outing to a car boot sale after a long winter!
I’m struggling to identify this bubble ashtray or trinket dish and wonder if anyone recognises it please? It’s 6” long and 4.75” wide. Very heavy and the glass feels like it is good quality, very smooths and well finished. Difficult to photograph!
    Any ideas please?
    Thankyou

I would call it a Controlled Bubble Cigar Ashtray. Possibly Murano. In the vien of the one shown below.

I can't get a link to work. But search Controlled Bubble Cigar Ashtray on ebay and you will see ones like your ashtray.

Bullicante is another term to use, probably Seguso.

I’ll have a think. Most likely to be made on Murano, but Ericsson did bullicante too.

Carl Erickson did a lot of controlled bubble work.

Erickson was located here in Ohio until the 60s so it turns up here frequently. For some reason this just doesn't look like their work. It's the ground but unpolished pontil that's bothering me. Unless there was once a ball attached to the base. They did a lot of items especially barware that sits atop a controlled bubble ball. IDK, there were just so many makers of bullicante glass.

I may have found it. Not the exact design but the same shape.

Ah, Leerdam! That’s another one, and I’ve had some. Signed sometimes.

    did I say it’s a clamshell?

Is the glass a bit yellowish rather than crystal white clear?

Laura, If that's not it, I don't know what is. Have you compared the measurements? I would go with that ID.

It looks yellowish in the posted photos. Is that another strike in the Leerdam column?

No, it’s crystal clear colourless. The yellow is reflection.

Ah, ok. It’s not conclusive but some Leerdam can look a bit off tone.
