Assistance to decipher Kanji on Satsuma vase please...

    Greetings fellow Antiquers...been a while since I last posted, so hope all is well in your worlds. :)

    Picked up a small vase at a yard sale recently, and am having a devil of a time translating the left side characters. I've done Google, Gotheborg, Blue Cherry, Oriental Antiques, plus traced the characters (to the best of my ability) from a photograph and put that into every appropriate online translator. Mixed results to say the least.
    I know the right hand side is "Great Japan", and the vase is probably from the Meiji period, but that's as far as I've got. Handing over to the experts now (and thank you)...
