Antique EPNS napkin rings

    One of those times when 'Victorian' would actually be correct - commercial electroplating wouldn't date earlier than the 1840s and very little, if any documentation of napkin ring production has been found prior to the 1830s in the UK and other European countries, common in catalogs there and in the US by the 1860s.

    Should mention that the description of the linked napkin ring as 'engraved' is incorrect, the decoration on theirs and yours is die-struck, but similar designs were engraved as well.

    Thank you. Nice knowledge and reference material. Die-struck rings true as you can see a faint mark on the inside of the rings too where they were struck.

    $7 each in the 19th C. That's a fair whack isn't it?
