Featured Wooden lion paws salvage, what age and type of wood?

    Hello! Picked these up from auction recently-they were listed as mahogany and circa 1840s, does this seem accurate? Would they have originally been the feet of a table? I bought them to sell on (although tempted to keep them, I can't everything :hilarious:), I thought they would look neat as bookends or as decorative pieces on a shelf. They measure roughly 5"L x 4"W x 5"H. Thanks for any info!

    Holy hairy paw feet. I can't help, but they do make great bookends.

    Nice; and I'd guess the wood could well be mahogany.

    Agree, mahogany. I don't see how anyone could say they are as early as 1840. Think 19th century, possibly even on into the 20th a bit. Quality is good but certainly not anywhere near the best. Makes me think late 19th century, rather than earlier.
