No it was literally ten or eleven years ago ... I lost interest in this one when I saw that one It was in the exact same place,it was a facsimile of mine down to...everything xx
Side Bar: Lest you think all resin jewellery is mass produced & should be low priced, meet Line Vautrin. (Bet @kyratango already knows all about her.) If you search for Line Vautrin Talosel (the name of the resin she used) you will be astounded.
It's part of educating myself. Now, if only I could educate the wider public so we would never again see something like this: https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/w...wo-cherubs-edward-william-wyon/id-f_29190312/ 19th Century Marble Bas-Relief with Two Cherubs by Edward William Wyon $1,839 https://beverlyhillsestatesale.com/Home/Detail/42616 Antique Signed E. W. Wyon 1848 Carved Alabaster Plaque Titiania and Oberon $1,300 Negotiable I sent the link for the AR appraisal to the second seller. It includes an identical plaque. Hope they look & act accordingly. The more these are correctly identified on the Internet, the more the wild claims that these are Wyon autograph works should abate. Is there a fingers crossed emoji?
Omg, I’ve got one of those boxes! By memory it’s missing a lid possibly. I haven’t seen it for ages though so I just have stashed it away. I’ll try to find it.
Well, not everyone has been educated in my school. Unusual & very pretty frame, but https://www.ebay.com/itm/156421308944 US $1,250.00 or Best Offer "Antique Hand-Carved Resin Cameo Brooch incised in 925 Sterling Silver. Rare Estate piece. I believe this is from the art deco time period. 2" long by 1.5" wide. The closest one I found online was $1500 on Etsy."
An Etsy seller in Hungary is asking $1789US for theirs and claiming it's shell set in 18K gold. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1872971210/1880s-victorian-gold-shell-cameo-pendant?ls=s&ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=vintage&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=cameo&ref=sr_gallery-1-22&frs=1&cns=1&sts=1&content_source=0970020dbbe133f600632c83b585b8f0ee3ec31b%3A1872971210&organic_search_click=1&logging_key=0970020dbbe133f600632c83b585b8f0ee3ec31b:1872971210
I could see places where there might be French marks, but so small I couldn't make them resolve into anything. The metal parts do not appear consistent throughout; hook at top looks added. Wouldn't be the least surprised if some owner down the line thought they had a lovely hardstone cameo & had work done on the mount using karat gold.
Why does it say this above the price? "Only 1 left and 6 views in the last 24 hours" Just an etsy marketing ploy?
Love a seller that asks 5 figures, posts that there are marks, but no photos of marks. Not even an attempt. Yep.
Think eBay does something very similar. Trying to convince you the item is rare with lots of interest from potential buyers so you better grab it now! Anything that tries to stampede me into doing anything makes me run the other way. My mind always boggles when someone who has the item in hand mistakes something like this for shell. Have they ever handled a single genuine shell piece, of any quality? How much would they have asked if they thought it was hardstone?
They are representing this as lava, although pricing as if they know better: https://www.invaluable.com/auction-...wordalerts&utm_content=323606&utm_term=041325 Question: should they be told?
I found your group discussion here while looking for information on the nouveau lady pendant, because I have one I bought (inexpensively) and wanted to find out more about it. The one I have is in a sterling frame with scrolls and probable garnets. If it's molded, it's done with a mold of many sections, as the relief is undercut in a few places, or else it was finished by hand for that effect. There are no marks other than the 925 on the back of the closed frame. I also read some of the linked Numismatic discussion, but I don't see where anyone said something like "this manufacturer seems to have produced these items around DATE." Is there a guess for a date of any kind? I'm not emotionally invested in any particular answer, I'm just very curious. Thank you.
Sure - I can take more if it's helpful. I had to downsize this file to follow size constraints, but if you want a larger version of any of the images, I can do that individually. Or I can post it on Imgur and give the link, which will get around the file size limitation.
