Does anyone recognize the artist? It's about 15" x 13" and seems well done to me.

Yours appears to be a Mexican factory painting. Decorative art in which case the name of the "artist" is immaterial.

I should add that the giveaway is the HECHO EN MEXICO stamped on the frame.

Agree that this is a factory painting but may not be Mexican in origin. Mexican frames were used on all kinds of art, as they were the cheapest nice frames available in the 70s and 80s. A lot of art wholesalers would import the art and frames from different sources and combine them. Smaller galleries would also buy the Mexican frames for use as they saw fit. Consumers could also buy the Mexican frames for framing their own art. Have seen a lot of paint-by-number paintings in Mexican frames.

A lot of factory art is found in Mexican frames. I agree that is is one tip-off that you may have a factory painting. It is not necessarily definitive.

Thank you, @verybrad. Always welcome a (gentle) correction if I've spread mis-information.

Not really mis-information. Just part of the story in evaluating art. You are usually spot-on in your comments.
