When will VHS tapes be worth a lot?

Some of the vcr taped music videos were never transcribed into dvd and those can be worth a lot. :)

I know people who still have analogue TVs. Usually, older or less well off. They use set top boxes, or communal digital Freeview to analogue converters. I've got programmes I've recorded to keep on DVD: there's still a lot of stuff that never comes out on pre-recorded, especially current affairs.

I wish I was one of those people who could still record to dvd or vcr from my tv set.

I almost never watch tv anymore anyway, just dvds of concerts, movies, etc.

I'd really rather put an antenna up in the highest part of my attic and catch c-span that way, but the "package price" for cable internet, phone and tv is about the same price as it would be without the video reception. Perhaps I could make my cell phone into a wifi hotspot to eliminate the need for cable altogether.

I rarely keep anything from house clearances but among the thousands of VHS tapes we got from an attic clearance I found this unopened box set which in its day must have cost a pretty penny, she was a delight and passed to soon.
I`ll watch each one in the new year.

Interesting thread. I agree that recordings on tape have a limited life span, due to physical deterioration over time.
And I can see how some tapes might be rare or collectible.
But if I had anything like that, I'd be tempted to sell now, rather than hoping for better prices later.

Only the cover ( box ) art, will stand the test of time.

Like album covers...which are getting hotter all the time, it's the condition that jumps the value.

I have some good covers....but ......there seems to be some kinda drug residue on quite a few of them....:oops::oops:

What with the move to legalize and decriminalize ....I'll bet that old dope , pot , weed, stuff becomes more sought after...

    lloyd249 it's not hoarding if it's valuable

not everyone had a pvr i have a dcx3400-m from shaw cable with hdmi and hours of hd recording time but if i want to take it over to a friends who's less fortunate to not have cable to watch it's a lot easier to take a vhs tape than my pvr
