Featured tiny doll house? painted vase

    hi folks

    found this sweet lil thing in a charity shop today. i presumed it was japanese kutani and only bought it because it was so wee

    not sure it is now, certainly looks japanese inspired

    tiny little 60 on base

    measures 4 inches

    dolls house ? salesman sample ?or just a tiny vase

    any thoughts or info appreciated

    Yes, I think Japanese inspired rather than Japanese. Very sweet. Too big for a doll's house imo, but it could be a novelty miniature.

    It is adorable! I agree with Any Jewelry - perfect for a small posy or just a novelty miniature.

    That vase is so sweet! I think it would be for small flower(s). I sold a Herend vase once that was just 2 1/2 inches high (6.35 cm) and it was made for little flowers.

    Definitely kutani inspired. The 'red' and rest of the palette is wrong though. Makes me think European alongside the base.

    I will go slightly further -- could be late 19th c or early 20th c as styles don't really have clear "cut off" dates. This one I think hearkens to the "ivory" or "blush ivory" type of wares that was popular in the latter 19th c. Many factories -- I have some Royal Worcester pieces in that type -- made it.

    I blush. Just glad my little tidbits are helpful now and then. There are other members here that I admire very much and think they are like Antiques Roadshow experts and sometimes better!
