Featured Netsuke ring

I only see black seal skin apparel pieces, no newer than early 50s. Most from the 30s and 40s. And rarely, thank goodness. It's invariably dry rotted. I think the younger generation is getting some things right- no fur, lab-created diamonds, eating less or no meat. What were we thinking using ivory and coral, killing living things, for ornamentation? What's done is done, but please, no more.

Use ivory from the mammal that went extinct 10,000 years ago.

 

I have a somewhat different view on furs and skins , & ivory and bone & sinew.






& animal meat..!

 

Moms sealskin belt and pouch are still with me.

 

Whewww those are so beautiful! The craftsmanship is so sooo high.

 

yup...and I've seen Inuit wearing Columbia , and Canada goose jackets as well....
so there's that too !

 

Those skins are definitely being used properly.
